ECKHART TOLLE QUOTES FROM THE POWER OF NOW, STILLNESS SPEAKS AND A NEW EARTH

ECKHART TOLLE QUOTES FROM THE POWER OF NOW AND A NEW EARTH ON LOVE, LIFE AND CONSCIOUSNESS

  • Most people are so completely identified with the voice in the head-the incessant stream of involuntary and compulsive thinking and the emotions that accompany it-that we may describe them as being possessed by their mind. As long as you are completely unaware of this, you take the thinker to be who you are. This is the egoic mind. This is unconsciousness, spiritually speaking.

  • When you listen to a thought, you are aware not only of the thought but also of yourself as the witness of the thought. A new dimension of consciousness has come in.

  • Pleasure is always derived from something outside you, whereas joy arises from within.

  • The past gives you an identity and the future holds the promise of salvation. Both are illusions. The future is usually imagined as either better or worse than the present. If the imagined future is better, it gives you hope or pleasurable anticipation. If it is worse, it creates anxiety. Both are illusory.

  • Ask yourself what “problem” you have right now, not next year, tomorrow, or five minutes from now. What is wrong with this moment?

  • The reason why you don't put your hand in the fire is not because of fear, it's because you know you'll get burned. You don't need fear to avoid an unnecessary danger, just a minimum of intelligence and common sense.

  • “I am bored.” Who knows this?
“I am angry, sad, afraid.” Who knows this?
You are the knowing, not the condition that is known.

  • Be there as the witnessing presence of your inner state. You don’t have to do anything. With the awareness comes transformation and freedom.

  • Each day of your life appears to consist of thousands of moments where different things happen. Yet if you look more deeply, is there not only one moment, ever? Is life ever not this moment? This one moment, now, is the only thing you can never escape from. The one constant factor in your life. No matter what happens. No matter how much your life changes. One thing is certain. Its always now. Since there is no escape from the now, why not welcome it, become friendly with it.

  • I am not my thoughts, emotions, sense perceptions, and experiences. I am not the content of my life. I am Life. I am the space in which all things happen. I am consciousness.

  • You say, “I want to know myself.” You are the I. You are the knowing. You are the consciousness through which everything is known and that cannot know itself. It is itself. There is nothing to know beyond that.

  • By knowing yourself as the awareness in which phenomenal existence happens, you become free of dependency on phenomena and free of self seeking in situations, places, and conditions. In other words, what happens or doesn't happen is not that important anymore. Things lose their heaviness, their seriousness. A playfulness comes into your life. You recognize this world as a cosmic dance, the dance of form.

  • If her past were your past, her pain your pain, her level of consciousness your level of consciousness, you would think and act exactly as she does. With this realization comes forgiveness, compassion, peace.

  • What a liberation to realize that the "voice in my head" is not who I am. Who am I then? The one who sees that.

  • All the things that truly matter - beauty, love, creativity, joy, inner peace - arise from beyond the mind.

  • You cannot find yourself in the past or future. The only place where you can find yourself is in the Now.

  • Suffering has a noble purpose: the evolution of the consciousness and the burning up of the ego.

  • Life is the dancer and you are the dance.

  • Right now we are being given the experience we need to raise our consciousness.

  • The past has no power over the present moment.

  • Some changes look negative on the surface but you will soon realize that space is being created in your life for something new to emerge.
  • The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it.

  • Acknowledging the good that you already have in your life is the foundation for all abundance.

  • Give up defining yourself - to yourself or to others. You won't die. You will come to life. And don't be concerned with how others define you.

  • To love is to recognize yourself in another.

  • Realize deeply that the present moment is all you have. Make the NOW the primary focus of your life.

  • Life isn't as serious as the mind makes it out to be.

  • Time isn’t precious at all, because it is an illusion. What you perceive as precious is not time but the one point that is out of time: the Now. That is precious indeed.

  • Love is not selective, just as the light of the sun is not selective. It does not make one person special. It is not exclusive. Exclusivity is not the love of God but the "love" of ego. However, the intensity with which true love is felt can vary.

  • There may be one person who reflects your love back to you more clearly and more intensely than others, and if that person feels the same toward you, it can be said that you are in a love relationship with him or her. The bond that connects you with that person is the same bond that connects you with the person sitting next to you on a bus, or with a bird, a tree, a flower. Only the degree of intensity with which it is felt differs.

  • Death is a stripping away of all that is not you. The secret of life is to "die before you die"  and find that there is no death.

  • Worry pretends to be necessary but serves no useful purpose.

  • Always say “yes” to the present moment. What could be more futile, more insane, than to create inner resistance to what already is? what could be more insane than to oppose life itself, which is now and always now? Surrender to what is. Say “yes” to life -and see how life suddenly starts working for you rather than against you.

  • This, too, will pass.

  • I have lived with several Zen masters -- all of them cats.

  • To recognize one's own insanity is, of course, the arising of sanity, the beginning of healing and transcendence.

  • Love is a state of Being. Your love is not outside; it is deep within you. You can never lose it, and it cannot leave you.

  • The beginning of freedom is the realization that you are not “the thinker.” The moment you start watching the thinker, a higher level of consciousness becomes activated.

  • Knowing yourself is to be rooted in Being, instead of lost in your mind.

  • You are not IN the universe, you ARE the universe, an intrinsic part of it. Ultimately you are not a person, but a focal point where the universe is becoming conscious of itself. What an amazing miracle.

  • When another recognizes you, that recognition draws the dimension of Being more fully into this world through both of you. That is the love that redeems the world.“Rather than being your thoughts and emotions, be the awareness behind them."

  • Be the silent watcher of your thoughts and behavior. You are beneath the thinker. You are the stillness beneath the mental noise. You are the love and joy beneath the pain.

  • Where there is anger there is always pain underneath.

  • There are two ways of being unhappy. Not getting what you want is one. Getting what you want is the other.

  • Let me say it again:
"the present moment is all you ever have."

  • True communication is communion- the realization of oneness, which is love.

  • Every person carries the seed of enlightenment within. What is commonly called "falling in love" is in most cases an intensification of egoic wanting and needing. You become addicted to another person, or rather to your image of that person. It has nothing to do with true love, which contains no wanting whatsoever.

  • Wisdom comes with the ability to be still. Just look and just listen. No more is needed. Being still, looking, and listening activates the non-conceptual intelligence within you. Let stillness direct your words and actions.Look at a tree, a flower, a plant. Let your awareness rest upon it. How still they are, how deeply rooted in Being. Allow nature to teach you stillness.

  • Be present as the watcher of your mind of your thoughts and emotions as well as your reactions in various situations. Be at least as interested in your reactions as in the situation or person that causes you to react.

  • Death is not the opposite of life.  Life has no opposite.  The opposite of death is birth.  Life is eternal.

  • Your mind is an instrument, a tool. It is there to be used for a specific task, and when the task is completed, you lay it down. As it is, I would say about 80 to 90 percent of most people's thinking is not only repetitive and useless, but because of its dysfunctional and often negative nature, much of it is also harmful. Observe your mind and you will find this to be true. It causes a serious leakage of vital energy.

  • Fear arises through identification with form, whether it be a material possession, a physical body, a social role, a self-image, a thought, or an emotion. It arises through unawareness of the formless inner dimension of consciousness or spirit, which is the essence of who you are.

  • Thinking, or more precisely identification with thinking, gives rise to and maintains the ego, which, in our Western society in particular, is out of control. It believes it is real and tries hard to maintain its supremacy. Negative states of mind, such as anger, resentment, fear, envy, and jealousy, are products of the ego.

  • Internal and external are ultimately one. When you no longer perceive the world as hostile, there is no more fear, and when there is no more fear, you think, speak and act differently. Love and compassion arise, and they affect the world.

  • If you find your here and now intolerable and it makes you unhappy, you have three options: remove yourself from the situation, change it, or accept it totally. If you want to take responsibility for your life, you must choose one of those three options, and you must choose now. Then accept the consequences. No excuses. No negativity. No psychic pollution. Keep your inner space clear.

  • When you look upon another human being and feel great love toward them, or when you contemplate beauty in nature and something within you responds deeply to it, close your eyes for a moment and feel the essence of that love or that beauty within you, inseparable from who you are, your true nature. The outer form is a temporary reflection of what you are within, in your essence. That is why love and beauty can never leave you, although all outer forms will.

CHAKRAS HEALING ,COLORS MEANING, KUNDALINI YOGA

KUNDALINI YOGA (MEDITATION AND AWAKENING)

Kundalini is an energy system inside your body consisting of seven Chakras or energy centers running from the base of the spine to the crown of the head, which if activated and cleared when blocked can help you lead a more harmonious, fulfilling life.

These seven Chakras vibrate to the seven musical notes and to the seven colors of the rainbow VIBGYOR -Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red, in that order from the Crown Chakra to the Root Chakra.

Meditation helps in clearing these Chakras and activating them properly so that rather than living life unconsciously, motivated by greed and fear like the majority of people do, you can live consciously, motivated by compassion, moment to moment awareness and responding accordingly.

MEDITATION

Meditation is the process of witnessing or watching your mind/ thoughts, feelings, etc  to the point where there are no more thoughts left/ where there is no mind and only nothingness, which is also known as your pure witnessing consciousness, and knowing that you are separate from your thoughts, etc. by watching them without getting involved/ carried away/ resisting them.

Witness your thoughts like a watcher on the hill watches the happenings in the village without getting involved with the happenings. This can be helped if you watch your breath. When you breathe slowly, calmly, your mind/ thoughts slow down and your mind stops racing.

The idea is to use your mind only when needed and not continuously 24/7 obsessing/ worrying/ imagining/ over something or some idea whether about the past or about the future, but, rather living in the present moment/ here now peacefully and joyously.

CHAKRAS IN THE HUMAN BODY AND THEIR MEANING

There are seven major Chakras in the human body each corresponding to some aspect of human life. These are as follows- the Mooladhara or the Root Chakra, the Swadhisthana or the Sacral Chakra, the Nabhi or the Solar Plexus Chakra,  the Anahata or the Heart Chakra, the Vishuddhi or the Throat Chakra, the Agya or the Third Eye Chakra and the Sahasrara or the Crown Chakra.

CHAKRAS AND HEALING COLORS

a) THE ROOT CHAKRA / MOOLADHARA CHAKRA
Situated at the base of the spine, the root Chakra vibrates to the color RED and gives you the ability to make a living / survive in the world. It can make you feel grounded, secure and stable if it is functioning properly. Burning Benzoin (Lobhan) or Myrrh incense helps in purifying this Chakra.

Wearing a pleasing shade of red can help you feel more grounded and secure.Walking barefoot in the garden on grass along with eating root vegetables like carrots, radishes, turnips, potatoes, yam etc also helps you to feel more rooted and connected to the EARTH element of this Chakra.

b) THE SACRAL CHAKRA/ SWADHISTHANA CHAKRA

This is the next Chakra along the spinal cord and is of the WATER element. The name Swadhisthana means  "your own space".  This Chakra governs emotions, feelings, sense organs, creativity, sexual desire and intimacy etc.

Burning jasmine and rose incense helps in cleansing this Chakra makes you feel stable within you physical and emotional relationships along with guiding you in the right and healthy way in your desires-sexual and otherwise.  This Chakra vibrates to the color ORANGE.

c) THE SOLAR PLEXUS CHAKRA/ THE NABHI CHAKRA/ THE MANIPURAKA CHAKRA

This Chakra is located above the navel and is of the FIRE element. This Chakra is associated with will power and personal responsibility.  This Chakra has a connection to the sun , heat and light, and vibrates to the color YELLOW.

Wearing a Citrine or a golden topaz gemstone, a pleasing shade of golden yellow and burning lemon grass, rosemary incense helps in expressing the qualities of this Chakra in he right manner and gives you confidence and self esteem.

This chakra governs metabolism esp the pancreas and it is said that diabetic disorders are a result of this Chakra functioning improperly. Spending time in the sun, using lemon and rosemary essential oils in potpourris and fragrances helps to restore balance in your life and intellect.

d) THE HEART CHAKRA/ THE ANAHATA CHAKRA

Anahata means the soundless or the unstruck sound and this Chakra is located just above the solar plexus in the center of the chest and is of the AIR element. This is the fourth Chakra and it vibrates to the color GREEN. As this Chakra is of the air element , it is related to the breath and its movements.

This Chakra expands when there is unconditional love for everyone including animals, birds and trees and you. Rose quartz, pink tourmaline are the gemstones and the incense to burn is Rose, Bergamot, and Rosewood.

This Chakra is symbolically represented by two overlapping triangles forming a hexagram or a 6 pointed star , which is popular in the symbol of the star of David.

This Chakra is in between the three lower Chakras and the three higher Chakras and forms a bridge for man to enter the higher from the lower as it connects the lower to the higher.Love ,Compassion, Balance, Harmony, and Healing etc are governed by this Chakra.

This Chakra also symbolizes the union between seemingly opposite principles such as the masculine and the feminine and the material and the spiritual qualities or matter and spirit. This Chakra also vibrates to the color pink.

e) THE THROAT CHAKRA/ THE VISHUDDHI CHAKRA

Governing communication , expression, patience, serenity, the throat Chakra is located and can be translated to purification (Vishuddhi) , this Chakra is located at the center of the neck at the level of the throat. Turquoise is the gemstone, Lemon grass, Sage are the incense to balance Vishuddhi and this Chakra vibrates to the color BLUE (sky blue/ sea blue) and the element SOUND.

f) The Throat Chakra is linked to creativity and all forms of expression like music, singing, dance, art, poetry, paintings and sculpture etc. Drinking Chamomile tea also helps in bringing about calm and peace, thereby balancing the Chakra.

The throat Chakra is associated with the Etheric body which connects the physical body with the spiritual. Singing loudly (don't disturb others) and sky gazing (gazing at the blue sky) for a while without blinking your eyelids, also known as ' tratak' help in balancing this Chakra.

g) THE THIRD EYE CHAKRA/ THE BROW CHAKRA/ THE AGNYA CHAKRA

This is the 6th Chakra which vibrates to the color INDIGO or Dark Blue, and to the element LIGHT and is located between the eyebrows. Lighting a lamp daily and gazing at the light without blinking for a while can clear this Chakra.

The AGNYA Chakra governs the 4 visions, namely Clairvoyance (seeing things happening at a distance with the eyes closed), Clair audience (hearing), Clair sentience (feeling), and Clair-cognizance (knowing). This Chakra is the center of intuition, foresight, vision, perception, psychic abilities and wisdom.

A balanced Agnya chakra results in the experience of a deep inner peace, more than the peace felt due to the balancing of the Throat Chakra. An unbalanced THIRD EYE Chakra leads to mental disorders- both neuroses and psychoses.

The gemstones for balancing the third eye Chakra are the Amethyst and Clear Quartz, and the incense to burn is SANDALWOOD, Lavender, Rosemary, Peppermint and Frankincense. The word Agnya means command, and this Chakra, if balanced, indicates that you have command over yourself and your life.

The third eye traditionally represented a clear/ pure vision without the smoke of prejudices or the past, in other words-seeing things clearly as they are and not seeing them as you perceive them to be.

Traditionally, in yogic lore, Shiva or Adiyogi who was a realized being, is known to have the third eye fully functioning, hence he is known as 'Tri-netra' which means the 3 eyed one.

g) THE CROWN CHAKRA/ THE SAHASRARA CHAKRA

This Chakra is said to be located above the middle of the head and the color is VIOLET and the element is the unknown COSMOS. Magenta, Gold, and white are also said to vibrate to this Chakra. Bliss, Truth and Ecstasy are said to be the qualities of this Chakra.

A realization that you are not separate from the existence as your mind/ ego used to believe, is essential for attaining the qualities of this Chakra. It is the gateway for the being to be connected with the source, for the wave to realize that it is a part of the ocean and merge with it.

Sahasrara means the thousand petaled, and traditionally a fully blossomed thousand petaled lotus is used to indicate this Chakra's qualities of blooming into nothingness/ Shoonya, and one who is Conscious, Aware, Present, Transcendent of the limitations of Mind/ Time and Space and Realized.

HOW TO SAVE MORE THAN 50% ON YOUR ELECTRICITY BILLS BY USING ECO SMART DEVICES

TIPS AND WAYS TO SAVE ON ELECTRICITY/ ENERGY AT HOME AND REDUCE ELECTRICITY BILLS

Electricity bills are increasing these days. With heat rising and temperatures soaring, people have no other option but to use air conditioners and coolers 24/7 which lead to the increase in current or electricity bills.

Here are a few top ways to save on electricity bills without skimping on your needs and comforts. You can slash your electricity bills by 50% if you follow the guidelines below.

Firstly, call an electrician and check if there are any leakages of power in your apartment or house and make sure that you use good quality wiring and quality products in lights, fans, ACs, etc.

MICROWAVE OVENS

Microwave ovens tend to use up a lot of electricity, so cooking on gas/ induction will save power and reduce power consumption thereby reducing your power bills. Reducing the use of the oven and using the gas stove or the induction stove when you can can save the units of power consumed.

LIGHTING AND BULBS

Using LED Lights/ Bulbs instead of the old tube lights or incandescent bulbs or even CFL bulbs (which are polluting to the environment because of the mercury in them) can reduce the power consumption on lighting your house by 80% without compromising on the luminosity or the brightness of the lights.

Although LED bulbs can cost a bit more than average lights, they tend to last really long when compared to ordinary lights and can save substantially on power consumption and hence can reduce your power bills (on lighting your house) up to 80%.

Apart from these, LED lights are very strong and durable and can withstand changes in environment like temperature or humidity. Also, a 6 watt LED bulb can give the same amount of brightness as that an ordinary 60 watt bulb.

SOLAR WATER HEATERS
Installing solar panels on your rooftop for heating water during cold climate conditions and winters can save substantially on your water heating bills on using the normal heaters and geysers.

Also solar power is environment friendly and non- polluting (normal electricity is produced from coal, gas, or hydro power plants which release harmful gases and cause air pollution)

TIPS TO SAVE ON ELECTRICITY/ ENERGY BILLS

SOLAR PANELS may be a bit costly but in the long run you will be saving on your power bills and also saving the planet from global warming. If you live in an apartment building, then all the flat owners can benefit from the solar roof top water heaters.

ECO SMART AIR CONDITIONERS

In hot areas, air conditioners can take up 60-70 % of your power consumption. Smart Air Conditioners detect the temperature in the room and make appropriate adjustments to power consumption and save energy accordingly.

If you set the AC at 24 C degrees during the day, a smart AC will sense when the room temperature is maintained at 24 C and reduce the amount of power consumed for a while.

At night, you can set the thermostat of the device around 26-27 C so that the energy consumed by the AC will be less and cool temperatures can be maintained at night and you can sleep comfortably.

Sharp, Whirlpool, Godrej, Daikin, Voltas, LG, Hitachi have energy efficient 5 Star rating ACs, and you should always buy the ones with 5 star rating for energy efficiency , though they may a cost a bit more, but you can save substantially on your electricity bills in the long run.

You can also check out solar air conditioners and portable air conditions from Haier apart from the traditional window ac and split ac. Also rather than keeping the sleep temperature at 24 C , you can keep it at 26 C to save on your bills without having to compromise on the cooling.

IF you are using a window AC then shade the device from the sun to prevent more and more power consumption as it has to work doubly hard if the unit is exposed to the hot sun.

Make sure your doors and windows are well sealed in your house as cold air tends to escape through the small spaces, hence constantly making your ac to work hard and subsequently increasing the power consumption and the electricity bills.

Buy the AC according to the size of your room. You don't need a 3 tonne AC for a 300 sq ft room. Cleaning your ac filter every month increases the energy deficiency of your ac, also replace the filter whenever needed to reduce power bills.

Air Coolers are power saving and cool efficiently in small rooms and work better in non-humid areas. If you live in a hot and humid area, then air conditioners are the best option.

Refrigerators with the door left open for a long time can consume high electricity and can result in higher power bills. LG, Haier, Samsung, Videocon and Hitachi, etc have more power efficient refrigerators and can help in reducing your power bills.

The most beautiful 6 yards garment that can be draped on a woman which makes her look graceful, feminine, yet powerful, is the sari. Here are a few types of saris in various fabrics that every woman should own.

Bandhani Sarees are beautiful in their design, fabric and other embroidery works done on the fabric and the fabric is dyed in such a way that it resembles waves (leheriya) and polka dots.

c) NON-VIOLENT SILK OR TUSSAR SILK OR KOSA SILK  SARIS

These silk sarees are pure silk saris too, but the difference is that the cocoons are boiled after the silk worm leaves it. In traditional silk production, the cocoons are boiled with the larvae inside them.

This is also called Ahimsa silk. :) Hence Tussar Silk Sarees are a good option for people practising ahimsa or veganism/ vegetarianism. These are sometimes called Raw Silk / khadi silk sarees too.

d) COTTON SARIS
Cotton sarees are the most comfortable, skin and environmental friendly sarees as they are made from plant grown material. They are the popular choice for working women as they can be draped with dignity and the fabric is such that it remains in place and is also light weight and easy to carry.

Pure Cotton Sarees are good for Indian climate. Also, cotton mixed with silk fabric sarees called sico (cotton silk) sarees are made to improve the luster of cotton fabric sarees, along with these Bengal Cotton Sarees are quite popular too.

Traditionally, cotton sarees were hand made and identified according to the geographical area where they were made.

A few of them are Pochampally, Gadwal, Benares, Sambalpuri, Venkatagiri, etc. cottons named after the geographical area in which they are made by weavers traditionally.

e) GEORGETTE AND CHIFFON SARIS
These are light weight sarees made from twisting cotton/ silk or even synthetic fabrics in such a way to give them a smooth feel and fall in the drape.

Now a days Sarees are available in Pre-Stitched/ Ready to Wear versions called one minute sarees which are easy to drape and carry off all day long.

Pure Georgette are made from natural fabrics like silk and cotton, whereas artificial or faux Georgette or poly Georgette are made from synthetic fabrics.

Apart from these traditional georgettes, you can also see Satin or satin silk sarees which shine beautifully and are smooth to touch and feel.

The pure ones are skin friendly, and these sarees are easy to maintain and light weight, and can be draped effortlessly for a gorgeous look.

Georgette Sarees are available with various kinds of embroidery works on them like gota patti, stone work, kantha work, pearl, kundan, mirror work etc., which make the sarees look even more beautiful.

f) NET AND JACQUARD SAREES

These are beautiful, glamorous party wear sarees in net which is mostly a synthetic fabric in brilliant colors and are very stylish to wear.
