HOW TO SAVE MORE THAN 50% ON YOUR ELECTRICITY BILLS BY USING ECO SMART DEVICES

TIPS AND WAYS TO SAVE ON ELECTRICITY/ ENERGY AT HOME AND REDUCE ELECTRICITY BILLS

Electricity bills are increasing these days. With heat rising and temperatures soaring, people have no other option but to use air conditioners and coolers 24/7 which lead to the increase in current or electricity bills.

Here are a few top ways to save on electricity bills without skimping on your needs and comforts. You can slash your electricity bills by 50% if you follow the guidelines below.

Firstly, call an electrician and check if there are any leakages of power in your apartment or house and make sure that you use good quality wiring and quality products in lights, fans, ACs, etc.

MICROWAVE OVENS

Microwave ovens tend to use up a lot of electricity, so cooking on gas/ induction will save power and reduce power consumption thereby reducing your power bills. Reducing the use of the oven and using the gas stove or the induction stove when you can can save the units of power consumed.

LIGHTING AND BULBS

Using LED Lights/ Bulbs instead of the old tube lights or incandescent bulbs or even CFL bulbs (which are polluting to the environment because of the mercury in them) can reduce the power consumption on lighting your house by 80% without compromising on the luminosity or the brightness of the lights.

Although LED bulbs can cost a bit more than average lights, they tend to last really long when compared to ordinary lights and can save substantially on power consumption and hence can reduce your power bills (on lighting your house) up to 80%.

Apart from these, LED lights are very strong and durable and can withstand changes in environment like temperature or humidity. Also, a 6 watt LED bulb can give the same amount of brightness as that an ordinary 60 watt bulb.

SOLAR WATER HEATERS
Installing solar panels on your rooftop for heating water during cold climate conditions and winters can save substantially on your water heating bills on using the normal heaters and geysers.

Also solar power is environment friendly and non- polluting (normal electricity is produced from coal, gas, or hydro power plants which release harmful gases and cause air pollution)

TIPS TO SAVE ON ELECTRICITY/ ENERGY BILLS

SOLAR PANELS may be a bit costly but in the long run you will be saving on your power bills and also saving the planet from global warming. If you live in an apartment building, then all the flat owners can benefit from the solar roof top water heaters.

ECO SMART AIR CONDITIONERS

In hot areas, air conditioners can take up 60-70 % of your power consumption. Smart Air Conditioners detect the temperature in the room and make appropriate adjustments to power consumption and save energy accordingly.

If you set the AC at 24 C degrees during the day, a smart AC will sense when the room temperature is maintained at 24 C and reduce the amount of power consumed for a while.

At night, you can set the thermostat of the device around 26-27 C so that the energy consumed by the AC will be less and cool temperatures can be maintained at night and you can sleep comfortably.

Sharp, Whirlpool, Godrej, Daikin, Voltas, LG, Hitachi have energy efficient 5 Star rating ACs, and you should always buy the ones with 5 star rating for energy efficiency , though they may a cost a bit more, but you can save substantially on your electricity bills in the long run.

You can also check out solar air conditioners and portable air conditions from Haier apart from the traditional window ac and split ac. Also rather than keeping the sleep temperature at 24 C , you can keep it at 26 C to save on your bills without having to compromise on the cooling.

IF you are using a window AC then shade the device from the sun to prevent more and more power consumption as it has to work doubly hard if the unit is exposed to the hot sun.

Make sure your doors and windows are well sealed in your house as cold air tends to escape through the small spaces, hence constantly making your ac to work hard and subsequently increasing the power consumption and the electricity bills.

Buy the AC according to the size of your room. You don't need a 3 tonne AC for a 300 sq ft room. Cleaning your ac filter every month increases the energy deficiency of your ac, also replace the filter whenever needed to reduce power bills.

Air Coolers are power saving and cool efficiently in small rooms and work better in non-humid areas. If you live in a hot and humid area, then air conditioners are the best option.

Refrigerators with the door left open for a long time can consume high electricity and can result in higher power bills. LG, Haier, Samsung, Videocon and Hitachi, etc have more power efficient refrigerators and can help in reducing your power bills.
